Mildred B. Naquin

September 15, 1937 — January 4, 2024

Baton Rouge

Mildred B. Naquin, 86, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 4th after a long but mostly painless illness. She was born on September 15th, 1937, to Albert and Marie Flora Boudreaux.

After first serving as the caregiver for her parents, she became a certified nurse’s aide and worked for a nursing home. She then served as a sitter and caregiver for other elderly clients for many years. Her passion was her family and extended family. Her most enjoyable times were spent with her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, their children, and other relatives.

She was an amazing cook, most known for her rice dressing, homemade bread, and lemon cake. She loved God and had unwavering faith in the Lord. In the last years of her life, she spent much of her time in prayer and singing songs of praise from her old church songbook. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Marie Flora Boudreaux; husbands, Clarence Naquin and Leon Naquin Jr.; and brothers and sisters, Rena Rodriguez, Harris “Pete” Fruge, Dela Barker, Beaulah Sanders, Leonce Boudreaux Sr., Clifton Boudreaux Sr., and Issac Boudreaux Sr., and her son-in-law Dan Burnette.

She is survived by her children, Linda Burnette, Ardeen (Arthur) Norsworthy, Darleen Naquin, Lonnie Naquin, Michael Naquin; T-Cliff Boudreaux (a nephew, whom she raised as a son); and grandchildren, Kiah Burnette, Charles Norsworthy and Charlyn (Benjamin) Vanderhoff, and great-grandchild, Kialeigh (Hayden) Reed and many other loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks and recognition are due to her daughter, Darleen Naquin, for serving as her primary caregiver for the last three years of her life.

The funeral service will be held at noon on Saturday, January 13th, at the First Pentecostal Church in Melville, LA, pastored by Rev. Devin England. Rev. Steve Gautreaux of Prairieville, LA, will officiate the service. The pallbearers are Harold Worley, Charles Norsworthy, Michael Naquin, John Favaloro, Daniel Boudreaux, and Dusty LeBlanc, and the honorary pallbearer is Harold Worley Sr.
