Michael N. “Mike” Mcgrew

Michael N “Mike” McGrew, born October 12,1950 in Dunklin Country, Missouri, passed away on August 10, 2023, in Gonzales, LA at the age of 72. Mike loved working with his hands, and he could fix almost anything. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone. 

Mike enjoyed cheering at all his children and grandchildren’s events. His contagious, energetic, and loud roars always made the crowd cheer even louder. He was an avid sprots fan, who loved watching LSU and cheering on his Tigers. and the St Louis Cardinals. Mike loved spending time with his family and one of his greatest joys was cooking breakfast for his family.  The more the merrier. He retired from Jacobs Engineering after many years of loyal employment.  

Mike is survived by his loving wife of 38 years Patricia Cruthirds McGrew; daughter, Holly McGrew Steed (Kevin); sons, Michael N. McGrew (Lori), John V. McGrew,  Thomas D. McGrew (Kellie); grandchildren, Nathan, Kendall, Mia, Adam, Ashleigh, Ryan, Molly, Patrick, Stefan, Saige, Elyssa, Caleb, Henry, Mac and a grandson due in January; great grandchildren, Amiela and Aiden; brother, George V McGrew (Julia); brother-in-law, John “Jack” Cruthirds; sister-in-law, Lynn Zingrebe; longtime friends, Kenneth Boutte and Tom Kalinoski; his beloved dog, Missy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his father, George V. McGrew; mother, Bernice Holley McGrew; father-in-law, John W Cruthirds; mother-in-law, Hilda M. Cruthirds; sister, Micki K Easterly; twin brother, Malcom D. McGrew; brother-in-law, Ken Zingrebe.  A memorial service to celebrate Mike’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Mike’s honor to American Cancer Society.  The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Baton Rouge Hospice for their excellent care and kindness during the family’s time of need.
