Funeral service celebrating the life of Melissa Ann Smith of Monroe, LA. will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Fair Park Baptist Church, West Monroe.

Family will receive friends for visitation 9:00 AM until time of service at the church, Interment will follow at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe.

Melissa passed away on August 8, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 7, 1979, in Tallulah, Louisiana (Madison Parish) to Patsy Lee Hutto Day and Harold Eugene “Happy” Day

Melissa’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, supportive sister, and a loyal friend whose kindness and compassion touched everyone she met. She had a gift for helping others and an open heart that welcomed all. Whether she was rocking out to her favorite music, laughing with loved ones, or offering her shoulder to cry on, Melissa brought warmth and light into every room she entered.

She is survived by her son, Vinson Smith and his wife, Katelyn; daughters, Marissa and Kristen Smith; and her precious granddaughter, Gracie Smith. She is also survived by her siblings, PJ Day, Tina Day, and Daphne Purvis; her loving Aunt Shirley Dickson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Melissa is preceded in death by her parents, Patsy and Harold “Happy” Day, and her lifelong best friend and sister-in-law, Darlene Smith.

Honored to serve as pallbearers are Spooney, Tyler, Victor, Jacob, Anthony, and Christopher.

Melissa will be remembered for her generous heart, steadfast devotion to her family, and the love she poured into every relationship she held dear.
