Margaret Maxwell Parker

Margaret Maxwell Parker, 69, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on July 21, 2026.

Margaret was born on September 12, 1956, at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, to Charles and Lucille Maxwell. She went on to graduate from Louisiana State University with a Master's degree in Marketing, launching a career that spanned marketing, market research, and creative and technical writing. Her sharp mind and gift for words carried through both her professional work and everyday life, where she was known for staying deeply engaged with current events and politics — and for never missing a chance to cheer on the LSU Tigers.

Margaret was a gracious daughter and sister, and a loving mother to her two sons, Adam and Alex. She will be remembered for being caring to her close, lifelong friends and as an individual that would best be described as selfless and altruistic. Those who knew her well remember a woman whose warmth and generosity of spirit touched everyone she encountered.

In her formative years, Margaret attended Leggett United Methodist Church in Biloxi, Mississippi, and was a member and regular attendee of Broadmoor United Methodist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where her faith remained a steady presence throughout her life.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille Maxwell, and her son, Adam Thomas Parker. She is survived by her son, Alex Michael Parker; her brother, Robert Michael Maxwell, and his wife, Priscilla, her nieces/nephews, Hillary Ann Beightel and Christin Grace Maurer and her great-nieces/great-nephews, Presley Ann Maurer, Ainsley Ann Beightel, Collins Grace Maurer and Maxwell Winton Beightel. She was previously married to James Thomas Parker.

A service will be held on Monday, August 31st 2026 at Leggett Memorial Methodist Church in Biloxi, Mississippi.

In lieu of flowers, Margaret's family would ask that any donations are directed to Breakthrough T1D, a Type 1 Diabetes Research Foundation.
