Lynda G Lambert

Gonzales

Lynda Rita was born on May 21, 1937, she was the second of sixteen children of John “Yep” and Mildred Hebert Gautreaux. She passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 13, 2024, surrounded by family; she was 86.

 

She married James “Chop” Lambert on June 18, 1955, after graduating from Gonzales High School. Lynda enjoyed playing softball, especially when she played with her daughters. She and James enjoyed square dancing and camping with the Kajun Kickers. They travelled all over the state with the group and enjoyed camping across the United States.

 

She started bowling with the Gonzales Bowlettes when she turned fifty, enjoyed puzzle books and always had a jigsaw puzzle on her table. She loved her family and their many accomplishments, was really proud that she could get on the floor and play with the great grandchildren when she was seventy.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of sixty years, three sisters; Agnes Berteau, Juanita “Poppy” Fink and Claire Gautreaux; two brothers, Eugene and Winthrop “Tussy” Gautreaux; several nieces and nephews.

 

She is survived by her three daughters, Regina (Alvin) Hanson of Lead Hill, AR, Rachael Lambert and Rebecca (Rickey) Robert, both of Gonzales, LA; two sons, Michael (Bettye) Lambert of St. Amant and Mitchell Lambert of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, five step great-grandchildren and one step great great-grandchild; seven brothers, Merle, Richard, Mackie, Francis, Steve, Bradley and Mark Gautreaux; four sisters, Janice Terrell, Monica Lanclos, Vallerie Lobell and Andrea LaCarbo; lots and lots of nieces and nephews.

 

The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge for all their kind and tender care of Lynda at this time.

 

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 9:00am until 11:00am at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 44450 LA-429, St Amant, LA 70774, with the Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am with Fr. Matthew Lorrain. Burial will follow in the Holy Rosary Mausoleum.

 

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Teri Hanson Lambert, Melissa Lambert Lavergne, Robert Lambert, Tabitha Hanson Crawford, Daniel Glover, Susan Lambert Smith, Tina Hanson and Timmy Daigle.
