Louis Matthew Templet, Jr. “Tony”, also known to his family and friends as Yak, passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Tony was born on September 1, 1947, in Gonzales, Louisiana and lived for many years in St. Amant and French Settlement, Louisiana. He served in the US Army from 1966 – 1968, then made a career as a floor and tile mechanic.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and drinking his gusto. Survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Frances Darlene; daughters Chere’ (Stacey) Antie, Chantelle (Dustin) Barnett; son Tony John Templet; sister Geraldine “Deanie” Templet; grandchildren Scott Kane; Christa Harrison; Blair and Zack Gautreaux; Chad and Coby Schexnayder; Gabrielle, Taylor, Zoie, Camryn and Allison Templet; great-grandchildren, Bayler, Aubrie, Zeke, Blakley, Kye, Brilynne, Jade, Colton, Tripp and his best friend David “Dave” DeSoto.
He is preceded in death by his parents Louis “Leg” and Vernell “Nellie” Templet; sister Barbara LeBlanc Johnson; brothers Vernon and Terry Templet.
The family would like to thank Uncle Charles “Charlie” Templet and the staff of Gentiva Hospice. In honoring their loved one’s wishes, the family will not hold a public service or gathering. Instead, they encourage loved ones to remember and celebrate the cherished moments shared. They appreciate your understanding during this time.
