Gonzales, LA

Lillie Mae Babin Morris, born February 17, 1935, in Gonzales, LA, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on May 6, 2024, at the age of 89.  Lillie worked as a switchboard operator for many years, later retiring from Eatel.  She was a parishioner of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church.  Lillie enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino, and spending time with her family and friends.  

Lillie is survived by her son, Ray Babin (Amy); daughter, Denise D. Babin; sister, Elgie Mae “Aunt Noonie” Braud; 13 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Morris; parents, Sydney J. and Adouiska Parent Babin; daughters, Donna Lavergne and Deena B. Gautreau.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Gonzales from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.  Interment to follow at Serenity Oaks Memorial Park in Prairieville.   Jeremy Delatte, Brandon Delatte, Dillon Delatte, Phil Baker, Allen Baker, and Roman Tullier will serve as pallbearers.   A reception to continue celebrating Lillie’s life will be held at The Venue in St. Amant following burial.
