Leeland Paul Tullier

August 18, 1955 — April 20, 2025

Gonzales, LA

Leeland Paul Tullier passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of April 20th surrounded by his loving family. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joseph “T-Shooney” & Evelyn Tullier and his mother-in-law Roberta Rushing. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Amy Rushing Tullier, their children, Elizabeth, Lauren, Daniel & Amber and four grandsons, Kason, Gibson, Burke, & Luke. He is also survived by his brother and spouse Greg & Susan Tullier, his sister and spouse Rhonda & Bob Fogleman as well as several nieces and nephews. Leeland was a beloved resident of Gonzales, LA and spent over 30 years serving his community as a police officer followed by retirement from the Louisiana State Police. In his retirement he was an avid golfer, he loved sports and especially baseball. His lifelong dream was to play professional baseball; but life took him on a different journey as husband, father, grandfather & protector. Leeland cherished every moment spent rolling on the floor laughing and playing with his grandsons and could “cut a rug” jitterbugging with the best of them – especially hand in hand with his wife Amy. He loved sitting on the front porch drinking his morning coffee with Amy and family. Leeland was passionate about his grass cutting skills and dubbed himself “master grass cutter” of the family. Rarely did he let anyone cut “his” yard! In life, his kindness and respect were always shown to friends and family alike. Leeland always had his million-dollar smile on standby, ready to share it with everyone. His unwavering dedication to his wife, children and grandchildren remained constant throughout his life. At a moment’s notice, he’d drop everything, no questions, no hesitation, and show up – no matter when, no matter where. Leeland was a man who touched many lives over the course of his own, in his occupation but especially his family. “Mourning is a love with nowhere to go, a quiet echo of the memories and moments that meant everything. Death is not the end, but a return home. His spirit lives on in every whispered prayer, every warm memory, and every beat of our hearts.” He will be forever loved & dearly missed by all who have had the joy of knowing him. A celebration of Leeland Paul Tullier’s life will be held at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 Hwy 621, Gonzales, LA, Tuesday, April 29th: visitation from 9-11am with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11am.
