Lawrence Joseph Labatut Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 85. He was born on May 30, 1940, in New Roads, Louisiana, and was a longtime resident of St. Amant, Louisiana.
Lawrence proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the USS Midway (CVA-41) and was a Vietnam veteran.
He found joy in tending his garden, spending time with his family, and cheering on his favorite team, the LSU Tigers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie Hotard Labatut and Lawrence Labatut; his brother, Paul Labatut (Samantha); and his brother-in-law, James Miles.
He is survived by his siblings: Dele Miles, Joann Goode (Doug), Kathy Labatut, and Johnny Labatut (Diana). He also leaves behind his children: Dusty Campbell (David), Eric Labatut (Jessica), and Rachael Plauche (Joey); his grandchildren: Dalanie Breaux (Dean), DeShae Zollinger (Daniel), Kaelyn Labatut, Jerrid Plauche, and Randy Labatut; along with five great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at church mausoleum
Lawrence will be remembered for his dedication to family, his service to country, and the love he shared with all who knew him.
