Lary Paul Loupe, an exceptionally talented and award-winning graphic designer whose work was seen throughout South Louisiana, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2023, after a three-year struggle with cancer. He turned 64 about two months ago. A lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, he was the third son born to Joseph “J.P.” Jr. and Ruby Chauvin Loupe. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Rene, who passed away less than a week before he did. Lary is survived by his mother, a brother Lane (Renea) and four nephews, Chad, Brett, Zack and Garrett Loupe. Lary attended and was graduated from St. Thomas More Elementary and Belaire High Schools before earning a bachelor’s degree in fine arts/graphic design from LSU in 1983. He worked for a local advertising agency for a few years before starting his own firm, Loupe Graphic Designs in 1986. It was there he crafted countless print and digital projects for corporate, business, political and non-profit clients. He was generous with his time and talents, often creating a great logo or letterheads for his many friends at no charge. His patience with clients was legendary, revising and honing designs again and again until they were absolutely perfect. He liked cats, or perhaps it’s more appropriate to say they liked him. Lary enjoyed drawing and talking about the muscle cars of the 70’s and 80’s and was the proud owner of a 1983 Camaro Z28 that he customized and drove for the better part of 25 years until it just wore out. He lovingly looked after his mother in the years following his father’s death and could always be counted on to fix just about anything around their house – or yours. Let’s hoist a frosty mug of Budweiser (16-ounce tall boy – his favorite) to Lary Loupe. Church Funeral Services in Walker is in charge of the arrangements.
