Larry Lee Hastings

Larry Lee Hastings was called home to join his Father in Heaven on September 9, 2026, having finished his race and now resting in the arms of his God and Savior.

Larry was born on July 16, 1944, in Topeka, Kansas. As a young man he made his way to San Bernardino, California, where he met the love of his life, Diane. The two were married for 65 years, a partnership that carried them through every season of life together.

In his younger days, Larry loved nothing more than riding his Harley-Davidson through the orange groves of California, and he carried the memory of those free, open-road days with him for the rest of his life. He had the soul of a rock 'n' roller and an ear forever tuned to the blues. A trail blazer. On some occasions you would find him in a fishing boat in the water with his family, for Larry, one of life's simple pleasures.

Though many trials in his life, he always managed to move forward keeping his sight on doing what was necessary to provide for his family.

Larry built a career as a skilled craftsman and business owner of Sunshine Cabinets and his carpentry — among the finest of its kind — left its mark across Louisiana, where he spent his later years. But his hands were matched by a searching mind and a creative spirit: he was a master guitar player, a lover of history, science, and hunting, and a man who was always looking for answers.

He found what he was looking for in 1980, when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior alongside his wife. It was the beginning of a new journey — one that led him into ministry work as a carpenter, repairing and restoring meeting places for his community. Along that road, with the Lord by his side, he learned compassion — though he never once lost his swag.

Larry was a man of few words but tireless work, and when his children needed him most in later years, he was there. He was the kind of man you could always talk to, never to pass judgement. By example, he taught his sons to work hard and never do anything half way.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane; his two sons, Keith and Kurt, both of whom carry forward his passion for music and nature; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren, all of whom carry a piece of him forward.

Larry's life was one of strength, hard work, deep faith, and an abiding love of music, nature, history, and family. He will be remembered as a builder — of cabinets, of ministries, of music, of a marriage that lasted 65 years, and of a family that will carry his spirit for generations to come.

Rest in peace, Larry. Your race is finished, and you are home.
