Larry Farris

It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry Farris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, on June 27, 2026, at the age of 75. Larry peacefully departed this world in Baton Rouge, LA, where his remarkable journey began on June 4, 1951.

Born to the late Lawrence W. Farris and Santina Spedale Farris, Larry left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. A graduate of Broadmoor High School’s class of 1969, Larry furthered his education at Southeastern Louisiana University before answering the call to serve his country. As a Lance Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps, he served with distinction as a Military Police Officer, embodying duty and honor.

Larry built a successful career in sales, retiring after years of dedication that showcased his charisma and knack for connecting with people. Yet it was his personal life, rich with love and adventure, that truly defined him. On May 14, 1994, Larry married the love of his life Cecile Mouton Farris. Together, they crafted a beautiful life filled with love, praise, worship, and countless memories that will be forever cherished.

He was a devoted father to his daughters, Courtney Henderson and her husband John “Robbie” Henderson, and Stephanie Gravois and her husband Matthew Gravois. His love and pride extended to his precious grandchildren, Jacob Henderson and his wife Kaylee, Leah Henderson, Peyton Gravois, Lorelei Gravois, and Savannah Gravois. Larry was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandson, Jayce Henderson, whose future stories he would have loved to be a part of.

Larry was a larger-than-life presence, known for his vibrant personality that lit up every room. He had an infectious sense of humor, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, stories, and anecdotes that will be recounted for years to come. His love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ was insurmountable, eagerly seeking to evangelize anyone he met. His passions were as diverse as they were numerous; from his teenage years spent with his father’s national championship boat racing team to racing his own boats across the country, Larry was always chasing adventure.

He was a self-taught painter, a talented photographer, and an enthusiastic traveler who found joy in live music and peace underwater scuba diving. An avid LSU fan, Larry couldn’t resist the pull of spending time with his family, cheering on his team, and relaxing with his faithful dog, Toby. His love for community was reflected in his active membership at Jefferson Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday School and participated in men’s bible study group. His past included coaching youth football, umpiring high school baseball, and serving as a volunteer firefighter, roles that echoed his nurturing and protective nature.

Larry is survived by his devoted wife Cecile, his cherished daughters and their husbands, his beloved grandchildren, his sister Peggy Jenkins, and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Santina.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on July 2, 2026, with visitation starting at 9AM and service to follow at 11AM, at Jefferson Baptist Church, 9135 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809. Friends and family are invited to gather in honor of Larry’s life, to share stories, and to remember a man who lived fully and loved deeply.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Larry’s memory to Jefferson Baptist Church or Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, reflecting his spirit of generosity and kindness. Larry Farris will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love, laughter, and service will forever remains in the hearts of those who knew him.
