Larry Joseph Boss

  Larry Joseph Boss went home on the evening of September 16, 2026, at the age of 83. A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Larry was born and raised in Lafayette, a place that remained an important part of his roots throughout his life.

  Born February 5, 1943, in Lafayette to Earlis and Electa Boss, Larry grew up with the work ethic that stayed with him all his life. He served his country in the United States Navy, then made his living as a proud truck driver retiring from Vulcan Chemical in Geismar, Louisiana. He was a parishioner of St. George Catholic Church.

  Those who loved him knew another side just as clearly. Larry was happiest with wood in his hands or a line in the water. He was an avid woodworker and the things he built for family, and friends were cherished pieces of art.

  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eileen, his sister Mary Alice Boss Beattie, and his granddaughter Corinne Nicole Boss. He leaves behind his sons, Gary Boss, and wife Deanne, and Mark Boss, and wife Kristi; and his grandchildren Alison Boss, Morgan Boss, and Cullen Boss, who carry his name and his love forward.

  Larry will be remembered as a devoted husband, a steady father and grandfather, a Navy veteran, and a craftsman who loved his family more than he ever said out loud. The work of his hands and the people he raised are his lasting gift.
