Kim Theresa Melancon Roberts, age 63, passed away on November 15, 2025. She was born on December 15, 1961, in Sorrento, LA. Kim later moved to Scott, LA where she lived while raising her family, and made her back to Gonzales, in her final years, where she continued to share her warmth, humor, and boundless love with all who knew her.
Kim was the Queen of DIY before the world had a name for it. She prided herself on being unique without being eclectic. Creating, fixing, and imagining solutions in ways that were unmistakably her. She cherished even the smallest gestures of kindness and found beauty and purpose in the simplest parts of life.
A fiery, proud Cajun woman, Kim adored working in her garden, tending her yard, and cooking meals that brought her family together. Her gumbo, her creativity, and her spirit were legendary. She had a deep love for animals and was moved easily by their stories, even commercials and movies about lost pets brought her to tears.
A lifelong true-crime enthusiast, Kim read only true crime books and spent countless hours watching Forensic Files, Dr. G, and any crime documentary she could find. She often shared stories of her grandmother and life growing up on farmland, memories that shaped her resourcefulness, resilience, and fierce family devotion.
Though quiet in her tastes, she later found comfort in the music of Lauren Daigle. Kim was quirky, clumsy in the most endearing ways, and wonderfully goofy. She could find humor in anything and brought laughter wherever she went. She welcomed others with “love,” “sweetheart,” or “darling,” but carried a strong, sassy fire when protecting her family or self.
Kim had a powerful spirit that carried her through many of life’s hardships and losses. She fought bravely through her invasive carcinoma, facing every challenge with determination and grace.
She is survived by her children: Tabitha Goudeau, Jesse Connor Roberts, and Keller Shea Roberts Brignac; her grandchildren: Riley Wright, Sean Shaffer, Landon Goudeau, Malachi Brignac, and Benjamin Brignac; and her brothers: Daryl Melancon and Blaine Melancon.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jesse James Roberts Jr., her mother Vera Achord Melancon, her father Roland J. Melancon, her sister Debra Theriot, and Granddaughter Haleigh Goudeau
Kim never let her loved ones forget how deeply she cared. Her final messages were always, "I love you with all my heart and soul. "She always waved goodbye with the ASL “I love you” sign. A gesture as gentle, different, and true as she was. To be near her was to feel heard, cherished, and understood.
Funeral services will be held at The Church International on Thursday, December 9th.
Kim’s family will forever carry her imagination, her humor, her courage, and her fierce love in their hearts. Her spirit continues in every life she touched.
