Kelley Randlev Dick, Sr., age 74, was called home to be with the Lord on December 11, 2025, surrounded by his three sons. Kelley was born in Alexandria, Louisiana and graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (“USL”) before making his home in Baton Rouge.
A loving father, grandfather, son, brother, cousin, and friend to so many, Kelley was loved and cherished by those who knew him as thoughtful, caring, gentle, and – above all else – kind. Kelley rarely met a stranger, and he treated everyone he encountered equally with friendliness and respect. For those who knew him, Kelley made their world a better and brighter place.
Kelley had many interests and hobbies throughout his life, from hunting and fishing in his younger days to cheering on the LSU Tigers while enjoying a glass of red wine with a perfectly cooked “Big Red” ribeye later in life. Of his many interests, he loved none more than being “Papa D” to his five grandchildren – whom he affectionately called “my babies.” Even in the waning moments of his life, Kelley never missed the opportunity to share a cookie or to enjoy an “I-dot” (donut) with his babies.
He is reunited in heaven with his mother and father Jane Catherine Dick and William Hudson Dick, of Alexandria, Louisiana, mother-in-law Myrna J. Deckert of El Paso, Texas, his brother John Quentin Dick, Sr. and sister-in-law Frances Gunn Dick, and cousins Henry Bradbury and Catherine Brame. Among the many other loved ones and family members lost before him were his faithful family dogs Bijou and Bella.
He will be sorely missed and always remembered by his three sons, Kelley Randlev Dick, Jr. and wife Taylor, William Barrett Dick and wife Alyssa, and Michael Austin Dick and wife Abigayle, his former wife of 35 years, Shelly D. Dick, his siblings William “Bill” H. Dick, Jr., Catherine “Kitty” D. Kimball and husband Clyde, and Austin L. Dick and wife Sambra, his many nieces and nephews, and his babies, Tripp, Mary Grace, Brooks, Cece, and Grady.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt gratitude to the Reverand Chris Andrews and the Jubilee Pioneers for their spiritual guidance and fellowship, to Dr. Louis Minsky for his treatment, advice, and friendship, and to his caregivers Rosemary and Nikki for their company, love, and care for Kelley in his final months.
Out of respect for Kelley’s wishes, the family will hold a private celebration of life event. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kelley’s honor to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center or to Jubilee Pioneers c/o Reverend Chris Andrews.
