Kaylem D. Matherne

Kaylem D. Matherne, a devoted family man, proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and lover of the outdoors, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025 at 67 years old.

Kaylem, affectionately known to many as “KD,” was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose greatest joy came from the time spent with his family and on the water. He cherished every moment with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandbaby, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, guidance, and unconditional love.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Kaylem served his country with honor. His commitment to his fellow Marines and his nation remained a source of deep pride.

Kaylem is survived by his cherished sister, Carolyn Ione Bourque(Milton); his four beloved children, Daniel (Brianna), Christine (Steven), Justin (Ali) and Cayla (David); his nine grandchildren, Kaylem, Connor, Peighton, Lane, Paisleigh, Makalynn, Preston, Mia, Sadie Marie, who were the light of his life; and one great-grand daughter, Sadie May, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

He leaves behind a legacy of family devotion, patriotic service, and a quiet appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Kaylem will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his spirit lives on in the stories shared around the table, the ripples on the water, and the hearts of his large and loving family.
