Kay Cooper Pittman, 83, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 3, 2025 at home with her family. Born in Baton Rouge to Edward Benjamin Cooper Jr. and Bessie Myrtle Paxton Cooper, Kay grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the love of her hometown community. She graduated from Louisiana State University and was a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She went on to dedicate her life to shaping young minds as a beloved kindergarten teacher. Kay’s greatest joy was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother who poured her heart into all her children. She found joy in the simple things—cheering for her LSU Tigers, browsing thrift shops, collecting treasures, and spending time with her loved ones. Her gentle spirit and bright smile could light up any room.
Kay’s favorite song was “His Eye Is on the Sparrow,” and her favorite flower was the daisy—a fitting symbol of her bright, gentle nature and enduring faith.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Benjamin Cooper Jr. and Bessie Myrtle Paxton Cooper.
She is survived by her four children, Catherine Pittman Hoffpauir, Jane Pittman Venable (son-in-law Kevin Venable), Jennifer Lynn Pittman, and William Jason Pittman.
Eleven grandchildren - Chandler Meador (Zack), Bryon Hoffpauir Jr. (Stephanie), Brandy Droy (Jordan), Kerri Languirand (Mike), Jennifer Venable,(Ian Haigood), Cory Venable (Christa), Emily Venable, Taj Harris, Brennen Pittman, Jaiden Pittman, and Tony Pittman
Twelve great-grandchildren - Kyleigh Meador, Brayden Meador, Aubree Hoffpauir, Lexi Hoffpauir, Wyatt Lawler, Eden Rigby, Dahlia Droy, Scarlett Droy, Shawn Languirand, Savannah Languirand, Rylea Languirand, Ethan Haigood.
Her kindness, patience, and unwavering love will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.

A visitation and celebration of Kay’s life will be held Saturday October 11, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with services starting at 11:30 a.m. at Redeemer Baptist Church in Baton Rouge.
