Julie Elana Gray, age 38, passed away on January 29, 2026, in St. Amant, Louisiana. She was born on August 12, 1987. Julie will be remembered for her presence in the lives of those who knew her and for the moments shared with family, friends, and loved ones along the way. Her life, though far too short, left an impact that will not be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jerald “Buddy” Gray; both sets of grandparents: Charles Gray and Billie Nell Harmon; and George and Dorothy Fairbanks.
Julie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Maxx, her greatest joy in life. She was an incredibly proud mother and found her deepest happiness in watching him grow and succeed. Maxx excels in academics as well as band, accomplishments that brought Julie immense pride. She especially loved attending his band performances and competitions.
Julie will also be remembered by her loving mother, Sylvia Fairbanks-Bonnett (John); her loving mother-in-law, Tamie Norwood, and her dear sisters, Jessica Gray-Barbay and Denise “DD” LeBlanc. Julie shared an especially close bond with her mother, Sylvia, who was more like a sister and best friend to her. They spoke daily and shared a deep, loving connection that meant the world to them both.
Julie will also be fondly remembered by numerous friends – many that go back to her childhood and elementary school years. They all miss her incredibly. Julie attended St. Amant High School, Class of 2005, where she excelled in the TAG (Talented and Gifted) program, reflecting her intelligence, curiosity, and love of learning.
Julie was a deeply caring and thoughtful soul whose presence brought warmth and quiet strength to those around her. She lived with compassion, curiosity, and a genuine love for both people and animals, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she encountered. Julie also loved to laugh and had a wonderful ability to bring fun and joy to those around her. Her sense of humor and infectious laughter created countless cherished memories for her friends and family.
Julie was a spiritual person who enjoyed learning about astrology and exploring the healing properties of crystals and rocks. These interests reflected her desire for balance, peace, and a deeper understanding of the world around her. She loved music and found joy and comfort in it throughout her life. Her favorites included Bob Marley, Elvis, and The Beatles—artists whose music reflected her free spirit, appreciation for peace, and love of timeless melodies.
Julie was a voracious reader and a deep thinker. She was drawn to books on spirituality, astrology, and natural healing, always seeking greater understanding and meaning in life. She also found comfort and insight in poetry and philosophical works, especially those by Ram Dass and Marcus Aurelius, whose words resonated with her reflective nature.
Julie was a huge animal lover of all types, indoors and out. She had many fur babies throughout her life, each deeply cherished. Animals were family to Julie, and her bond with them reflected her gentle and nurturing spirit.
Above all, Julie will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle soul, deep compassion, and joyful spirit. She had a quiet way of making people feel seen and cared for, and her love—for her son, her family, friends, music, animals, laughter, and spiritual exploration—will continue to live on through the memories she leaves behind.
The family warmly welcomes all friends and loved ones to a Memorial Service to remember and honor Julie, and to comfort her family and each other on Friday, February 20, 2026. visitation beginning at 10am until service at 11am with entombment to immediately follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Mausoleum in St. Amant, LA.
