Julian Emory Cox

Julian Emory Cox, born Sept. 25, 1934, peacefully passed into the loving arms of his savior Jesus in the evening of Friday, March 31, 2023 at the age of 88 with his loving family at his side. Born in Sycamore, Georgia to Dell Coleman Cox and Douglas Cox, he moved to Cocoa, Florida when he was two weeks old.

After High school he worked for Rinker Cement building gantries for the missiles at Cape Canaveral then he worked for City Gas Company of Cocoa. In 1954 he married Mardell Gager after she moved from Michigan to Florida, and they had 3 children together. In 1971 the family moved to Louisiana where he worked in the wholesale pet supply industry.

After the passing of his wife Mardell, he married Mildred Yancey when he was 80 and she remained with him until his final days. Together they fulfilled each other’s lives with a loving marriage.

His hobbies were gardening, fishing, hunting, and camping with his family. He was a member of Christ Community Church in Denham Springs.

He is survived by his wife Mildred Yancey Cox, daughter Sabrina (William Corky) Jones , son Elden Cox (Jacob Lacara), adopted daughter Deborah Blake Cox and 11 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren 8 great-great grandchildren and his loving and dedicated life companion, his dog Tippy.

Preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mardell Cox, son Doyle Cox, grandson Elden Cox, Jr, parents Dell and Douglas Cox and son-in-law Mike Henderson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 8 at Christ Community Church on Juban Rd in Denham Springs with visitation beginning at 10am and service at 11am with his Pastor Willis Easley officiating.
