Judith Dale Konos, born on October 9, 1941, in Memphis, TN at St. Joseph’s Hospital, passed away on May 22, 2025. She was a beloved member of her community, known for her dedication to education and her passion for writing. A proud graduate of East Jefferson High School in 1960, Judy went on to make a significant impact as a teacher at the Daryl Dale School for children with special needs, her compassion and expertise shaping the lives of many young individuals.

Judy held a cherished place among her family and friends, always bringing warmth and laughter into their lives. Her love for the water was mirrored in her long-time membership at the South Shore Yacht Club (SSYC), where she spent countless hours enjoying the company of family and friends. A passionate writer, she found joy in expressing herself through words, leaving behind a legacy of creativity that will be remembered by all who knew her.

Judy is survived by her loving husband, Markos Konos; her son, Stephen Konos; and her daughter, Kimberly Konos Scheffler, along with her son-in-law, Brian Scheffler. She took great pride in being a grandmother to Kriston Konos and his wife, Kristen Konos, as well as Brandon Fletcher and his wife, Lindsey Lacoste. Additionally, she was the adoring great-grandmother to Daniel Konos and to her great-granddaughters, Addilyn Fletcher and Hazelyn Lacoste.

She is also survived by her brothers, Walter Groce III and Very Rev. Archimandrite Nikiforos (Groce), and her sister, Greta Groce.

Judy was preceded in death by her mother, Daryl Clay Goodwin; her father, Walter Eugene Groce Jr.; and her sister, Robin Jones. The love and memories Judy shared with her family will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind not just memories, but a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support to all.

 A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 6th at 10am at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA.
