Josie Young, 89, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025 in Baton Rouge.
Born on January 22, 1936 in Munich, Germany to Maria Jardin and Josef Lorenz, Josie immigrated to the US in 1964, at the age of 28, and was a long-time resident of Duplessis. She married Clarence Young in 1966 and together they raised their two sons, Michael and Patrick.
Josie was a skilled seamstress; passionate about travel and photography. She and Clarence spent most of their retirement years traveling abroad, ultimately visiting all seven continents. These adventures provided Josie with ample subjects for her photographs, a collection of which were self-published in the book Josie’s Journeys: A Collection of Favorite Photographs.
She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence, her mother Maria Jardin Wüstenberg; her father Josef Lorenz; and step-father Heinz Wüstenberg.
She is survived by her sons, Michael Young and his wife Gayla LaBry of The Netherlands, and Patrick Young of Duplessis; and her brother Heinz Johann “Hans” Wüstenberg and his wife Christa of Munich, Germany.
She brightened our world with a light that can never be replaced, although she will be missed by everyone, she will never be forgotten.
