With hearts full of both love and sorrow, we celebrate the beautiful life of Joshua Jehu Busby, who entered his eternal rest on September 9, 2025, at the age of 43. Born on May 16, 1982, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Joshua was a gift to his parents, Rufus L. Busby and Wanda Faye Florida, and to all who would come to know him.
Joshua grew up in Baton Rouge and proudly graduated from Broadmoor High School. He later attended Southern University, where he studied Marketing for three years. Whatever the work, Joshua gave his whole heart, always bringing his lively spirit and creativity into everything he did. Joshua had an entrepreneurial spirit.
Joshua’s true passion was his relationship with the Holy Spirit. He loved the presence of God more than anything, and his life was marked by deep intimacy with the Lord. From an early age, he gave his life to Christ, receiving both salvation and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That decision became the foundation of his walk of faith, carrying him through churches across Ohio, Baton Rouge, Livingston, and beyond. Everywhere he went, Joshua’s love for the Holy Spirit overflowed—he was both an encourager and a gifted prophet, eager to share his faith openly. He often spoke words of encouragement, prophecy, and truth to complete strangers as the Holy Spirit led him. Even on the final evening of his earthly life, Joshua was still pouring out the Word of the Lord to lift and strengthen others. That night, he released the prophetic word “Acceleration,” a declaration that now serves as part of his enduring legacy—calling those who remain to press forward with boldness, urgency, and faith. His prophetic voice was not only for his generation but also a legacy that continues to echo in the lives he touched.
Joshua also found joy in everyday things, cooking creative dishes in the kitchen, laughing with his nieces and nephews, and cherishing the precious moments he shared with his beloved son, Tyler Busby, who was the treasure of his heart.
Joshua was preceded in death by his father, Prophet Rufus Lee Busby Sr. He leaves behind a family who will forever cherish his memory: his son Tyler Busby; his mother Wanda Faye Florida Busby; his brothers Prophet Rufus Lee Busby, Jr. and Danziel LaKeith Busby; his sisters Queenia Princess Louis and Praisecess Joy Butler Busby; his cousins Kela Anderson, Keisha Dove, Jim Dove, Jasen Gins, Daxton Gins, Charity Gins, and Kyle Garrett; and his many adored nieces and nephews: Danziel LaKeith Busby II, Issac Busby, Keondre Butler, Aspen Holmes, Halayahia Butler, Alaysia Butler, Sarah Louis, Ariel Lanee’ Cola, Miracle Busby, Destiny Busby, Matthew Louis, Khalil Butler, and Kayvion Butler.
Joshua Jehu Busby was not just a son, father, brother, uncle, and friend—he was a Child of the Most High God, and his light will never be forgotten.
We invite all family and friends to join us in honoring Joshua’s life at a Celebration of Life Service on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at 12 Oaks Church at Livingston, 27952 Red Oak Road, Livingston, Louisiana 70754.
