Joseph Daniel Truxillo Sr.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever beleiveth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) 

Joseph found rest in God's arms at his home surrounded by family at the age of 85. He was a resident of Plaquemine, LA and a native of Matthews, La. He was the 6th of 7 children. Joseph was a retired Machinist and a Pastor. He enjoyed woodworking and was very detail oriented. But as was said, "Pops" only makes one of a kind. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising and running beagles. One of his greatest passions was riding horses. 

Joe was the epitome of the "Southern Gentleman". And had that charm. He always wanted to make you smile. Hello Darlin' was his greeting. He always had his starched black jeans, western shirt, and a black hat and cowboy boots. When commented that he was dressed up, his replay was "That's my every day clothes." Being a Pastor, he gave comfort and understanding to many.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 9 years, Judy Truxillo. His children: Danielle and Wesley Duffer, Joseph and Dana Truxillo, Jr., Naomy and Allen Sensat, Nadine and James Holmes, Melissa and Larry Harrell, Jennifer and Chris Harrell, 16 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren. Brother in law, Dick and Carolyn Matherne, Sister in law, Glenda Cochran.

Joseph was preceded in death by his first wife of 55 years, Sandra Matherne Truxillo, Mother and father: Sidney and Lucia Truxillo Sr., In-Laws: Whitney and Doris Matherne, Son in laws: Walter Wisdom and Eric Molliere, and Grandson: Austin Little. Also on the same day his sister Frances Martin passed away 30 minutes after him, so all of his siblings have passed on.

A memorial for Joseph's life will be on Saturday May 23rd from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the home of Dale and Beverly Lively 65100 Mendoza Drive Plaquemine, LA 70764
