Listen to Obituary

Joseph "Buster" Brown, longtime resident of Sorrento, was called home on Friday, October 2, 2026 just a couple weeks shy of his 65th wedding anniversary to his wife Linda LeBlanc Brown. Buster was born on October 17, 1934, in Reserve, LA to parents Bernadette Jacob and Alfred "Doc" Brown.

Buster's greatest joy in life was the family he and Linda created together. He was a devoted husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. One of his greatest passions was building. His talents took him from building family houses to building birdhouses, and everything in between. He loved creating, fixing, and improving things, and was always willing to use his skills to help others; building was more than a skill, it was a way of caring for people and leaving something better than he found it. Buster also loved bringing family together, especially around a good meal. He took great pride in cooking for family gatherings and enjoyed having everyone together, sharing food, stories, and laughter. And when the work was done and the music started, he knew how to have a good time. He and Linda could truly “cut a rug”, and watching them dance was a reflection of the joy they found in each other and in life. Those moments of laughter, music, and dancing will be cherished memories for all who were lucky enough to witness them. He was also proud to have served two terms in the United States Army. He was a third degree knight of the Knights of Columbus (#6389) and a member and usher at St. Anne's Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his daughter Torri Brown LeBlanc and siblings Shirley, Myrtle, Betty, Carol, Floyd, and "little" Beverly.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Linda; sister: Elsie (John) Kerezsi; children and their spouse: Tammy and Kevin Millet, Chad and Susie Brown, and son-in-law Bart LeBlanc; grandchildren: Crystal (Jason) Ledet, Kevin (Jamie) Millet, Jr., Cassie (Matthew) Millet, Sadie (Jack) Brumfield, Brandon (Delaney) Brown, Beau (Kayla) Brown, and Megan (Glen) LeBlanc; great-grandchildren: Emma, Annalise, London, Heidi, Bennett, Jesse, Avery, Marie, Baylor, Beckett.

Serving as pallbearers are Kevin, Jr., Brandon, Beau, Jason Ledet, Jack Brumfield, Matthew Sarno, Glen Vicknair, and Raymond Brown.

Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Sorrento on Thursday, October 8, 2026 from 9am-11am with a Celebration of Life Service to begin at 11am. Burial to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery.
