John Wayne King “Big John”

Born on January 7, 1972 in Lutcher, LA, John Wayne King, “Big John,” passed away at his home in Prairieville, LA in the early morning hours of Friday, July 7, 2023, at the age of 51 years. Visitation will be held at 3:00pm at New River Baptist Church, 45270 Highway 429 St. Amant, followed by funeral service at 4:30pm on Saturday, July 15, 2023. Big John is survived by his daughter, Ellen Anne Hawkins (Douglas); mother, Peggy King; brother, Eddie King (Ingrid); grandpups, Dobby and Koda; special cousin and best friend since childhood, Randy Lilly; nieces and nephews, Joshua King, Ashton King, Morgan King, Ty King, Taylor Delaune, and Cheree Folks; great nieces and nephews, Jaylen King, Jaxon King, and Trinity King; and by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Earl “Peewee” King; grandparents, Earl King (Comaletha); grandmother, Ellen Rose Crain; step grandfather, Evon Crain; and uncle, Johnny Smith. Big John enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with his family.
