John “Johnny” Adam Stanga, a native of Abita Springs and resident of Port Vincent, passed away on May 6, 2026, at the age of 73.
Johnny proudly served his country for six years in the National Guard. He later built a strong and respected career as a pipefitter/welder, retiring from UA Local 198. He was a devoted member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, living his faith through service, community, and dedication to others.
Johnny found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved golfing, fishing, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose presence brought strength, warmth, and laughter to those around him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Linda Abbott Stanga; their sons, Conrad (Angela) Stanga, Adam (Brittany) Stanga, Joshua (Deanna) Stanga; and his cherished grandchildren, Alicia, Tanner, Sophia, Colette, Ethan, and Evan.
He is also survived by his siblings; Susan (Brad) Martin, Julie (Warren) Williams, Joey (Donna) Stanga & his in-laws, Maynell & Lynwood Abbott.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, John and Violet Martina Stanga.
Pallbearers will be Conrad Stanga, Adam Stanga, Joshua Stanga, Tanner Stanga, Joey Stanga, Gary Lambert, Matt Williams, & Matt Abbott.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Monday May 11, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in French Settlement, Louisiana. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., Mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. All are invited to join funeral reception at church hall.
Johnny will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his strong faith, and his kind and steady spirit. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
