John Marion Maranto Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John M. Maranto Sr. of Prairieville. John passed peacefully on July 27th at the age of 74 years old surrounded by his family.

John was an auto paint and body specialist and a boat fiberglass repairman by trade. He always performed his job with the utmost pride. John could build, craft and fix anything, even before the advent of “YouTube”. He was truly a “John” of all trades. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends at his home and at his fishing camp.

John is survived by Debbie Maranto, the love of his life since Junior High School and wife of more than 53 years. He is also survived by his daughter, April Galtier and her husband Jimmy Galtier Jr.; his son John Maranto Jr. and his fiancé, Jaime Guedry; his two grandchildren, Tyler and Aubree Galtier; his brother, Lee Maranto; his brothers-in-law, Bryan Beck and wife, Amy and Dale Beck and wife, Tammy, Loyce Beck III, as well as many nieces and nephews, and his fur baby and loyal breakfast buddy, Dixie. Lastly, John is survived by countless friends. John never met a stranger he wouldn’t instantly befriend, and who wouldn’t then be obligated to partake in his delicious cooking, something nobody ever regretted.

John is preceded in death by his father, Anthony Joseph (AJ) Maranto; his mother, Peggy Maranto; his sister, Marlene Scanlon; his brother, Kim Maranto and his best friend, Grover Austin.

Rest easy friend, John Boy, Uncle John, Brother, Brother-in-law, Pawpaw, Dad, and “Daddy”. You will forever be loved and greatly missed by all.

A memorial to celebrate John's life will be held at The Venue (13475 Hwy 431 St. Amant, LA 70774 Suite E) on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 4pm-7pm.
