John Spencer Jennings

April 9, 1950 — September 2, 2023

“Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.” John 11:25 

John Spencer Jennings was a man who loved his Lord and served him faithfully all his life. On September 2, 2023, his Heavenly Father carried him home to his eternal rest at age 73.  He was a graduate of Baker High School and Southeastern Louisiana University. John retired from Exxon Chemical after 31 years of service.  John is preceded in death by his parents Bob Jennings, Lorraine Puckett Jennings, and brother Joe Jennings.  John is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ann Darphin Jennings; sons Matthew Jennings, his wife, Holly Jennings; and Adam Jennings; grandchildren Hudson, Emerson, and William Jennings.  Pallbearers will be: Matt Jennings, Adam Jennings, Earl Darphin, Reggie Miller, Johnny Tassin, and Ashton Tassin.  Visitation will take place Thursday, September 7th, 2023, at 9:30 am with funeral services following at 11:00 am at Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCA), located at 3701 Jones Creek Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816. A light lunch/reception will be held in the church fellowship hall from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. Graveside service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  John had a heart for the spread of the Gospel and served as an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church for 20 years. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Westminster Presbyterian Church (3701 Jones Creek Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70816) for the “Asian Crescent Mission Fund”.
