Born and raised in Sorrento, Louisiana, Luke graduated from St. Amant High School in the Class of 1962. Shortly after high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force. Upon his return, he dedicated his career to working as a draftsman at Texaco Refinery, later retiring from Motiva in 1999.
Luke was a man of great integrity, intelligence, and purpose. He was known for his wisdom, his thoughtful words, and his quiet strength. A skilled carpenter and woodworker, he built many family homes and shared his love of the craft with his children, teaching them the value of hard work and craftsmanship. His hands, always steady and skilled, were a reflection of his calm and grounded nature. He also shared his love of music with his family and community. He played baritone with his high school band and went on to perform as a bass guitarist with his friends in the local band Kollision.
In the last few years of his life, Luke found peace and solace at the farm in Gloster, Mississippi, where he would spend time surrounded by nature. Whether he was enjoying a cup of coffee on the back porch at the farm or on his patio at home, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. His family was his greatest source of pride, and he cherished special occasions and everyday moments with them. He will be remembered by his family for his wisdom, his unwavering support, and his unconditional love.
John Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Joseph and Hermine (Lambert) Boudreaux, and his sisters, Aledia Peltier and Lura Sheets.
