John Gayle Landry, Sr., passed away at The Carpenter House on Saturday November 3, 2018. He was 85 years old and had fought Alzheimer’s disease with his family by his side. John was born in Prairieville on October 23,1933. He was a Private First Class E3 of the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. After the war he took up a career as an electrician with the No. 995 which he was able to retire from later in life. John will be remembered for his enormous heart, infectious smile, and how much he loved his family. His three favorite things were fly fishing, good food, and his naps. Anyone who had the privilege of knowing John knew that he was full of life and good humor. He is survived by his daughters Desiree Landry Daigle and Danielle Landry; son John Gayle Landry Jr.; three granddaughters Tasha M. Daigle, Toni Lynne Daigle, and Bailey D. Landry. John was preceded in death by his parents, Noah Paul Pepsi Landry and Isabel Marie Gautreau Landry and sister, Juanita Marie Landry Tate; Visitation will be at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, 1022 N. Burnside Ave. Gonzales, LA 70737 on Thursday, November 8 from 9:30 am until services at 11:30 am. AT 11:30 am mass. Interment will immediately follow at Prairieville Community Cemetery.
