Joel Andrew Hunsaker, age 56, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 16, 2023 at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center, Baton Rouge. He was the son of Sharon M. Hunsaker (Waxley) and John A. Hunsaker of Pineville, Louisiana.
His life’s vocation was as an automotive technician, working for almost ten years in the Alexandria area before moving to work in the greater Baton Rouge area for nearly thirty years, always working diligently with precision in his craft. In addition to his mechanical expertise he also worked as an excellent carpenter, completing countless projects for family and friends. Described by most as a perfectionist and extremely hard worker, he always did his very best at every project he started, helping others along the way.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his sons Jacob A. Hunsaker of Denham Springs, Louisiana and Jesse D. Hunsaker of Prairieville, Louisiana; his father, John A. Hunsaker of Pineville, Louisiana; three brothers, John D. Hunsaker (Susan) of Alexandria, Louisiana, Scott A. Hunsaker (Maxie) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Bryan J. Hunsaker (Heather) of Lithia, Florida; a cherished aunt, Jackie A. Waxley of Denham Springs, Louisiana; many beloved cousins, six nephews, and three sisters-in law.
The family wishes to express appreciation to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Our Lady of the Lake Medical Center.
Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation to be held at The Church International from 2:00 – 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 5, 2023. A 4:00 P.M. celebration of life memorial service will follow the visitation. The Church International is located at 13423 LA-431 St. Amant, Louisiana 70774.
A private memorial service will be held by the family for interment at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Georgetown, Louisiana.
