Joan Carol Bergeron, age 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 28th, 2025 with her family by her side, in Denham Springs, LA. She was born June 3rd, 1945, in Ypsilanti, MI to Willard and Diane Jewel Ricketts. Joan was raised in Dresden, TN then eventually relocated to Baton Rouge, LA where she was employed by Foster Grant. She later decided to pursue her passion for art and worked at The Owl’s Nest craft store and Michael’s. 

She was a loving wife to the late Charles Randall Bergeron, with whom she shared many years with. Joan was a cherished sister, mother, grandmother and an accomplished artist whose creative spirit touched all who knew her. With a remarkable ability to see potential where others saw only brokenness, she transformed discarded and forgotten objects into compelling works of art. A devoted lover of plants, she nurtured her garden with the same care and attention she gave to her artwork, which cultivated vibrant life and beauty. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. 

She is survived by her brother, Jack Ricketts and wife Margaret, her sister Jeanie Yarbro and husband Dent, and sister Connie Crenshaw and husband Tommy; her children, Lisa Weaver Swindle and husband Robert, Mark Weaver and wife Nicole; step-children, Donise Bergeron and Monica Bergeron; grandchildren, Stephanie Swindle Fernon and husband Brenden, Carlee Swindle, Alexis Weaver, Jacob Weaver, Victoria Roussel, Grace Roussel, and David Castilaw. 

Family, friends, and others whose lives Joan touched are invited to Live Oak Church, located at 34890 LA Hwy 16 Denham Springs, LA 70706, on Saturday, July 12th, 2025 with visitation beginning at 10AM, followed by service at 11AM.
