Jo Ann Fernandez Anderson

Jo Ann Fernandez Anderson, a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and resident of St. Amant, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at the age of 76.   She was a wife, sister, grandmother,  great grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.  She proudly served as a teletypist and secretary at BellSouth/AT&T for 30 years.  She enjoyed preparing and decorating for all holidays, making cookies, and taking care of her grandchildren.  She enjoyed dining out and going to the movies with her loving husband and friends.  She was also an active volunteer with the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Chalmette High School Alumni Association.  She is survived by her daughter, Sherrie Anderson-Houpy (Charles Jr.); sister, Gayle Brosemer (Dennis); grandchildren, Amanda Bauer (Keith), Charles Houpy III, and Josephine Houpy; and her great grandchildren, Tabitha and Liam along with many nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank Fernandez and Josephine Santucci Fernandez; her husband, Ronald Lee Anderson; and her granddaughter, Anna Sherrie Houpy.  The family would like to thank the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Hospice of Baton Rouge for their exceptional care over the last several years, especially hospice nurses Kim Neck, Candace Caldwell and Lisa Comeaux; Linda Vessel (CNA); Chaplain Randle Lowrance, and her Social Worker, Lexi Sevario.  They would also like to thank the dedicated caregivers, Julie Duhe, Lindsey Delaune and Tasha Courtney.  

 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 9am to 10:45am at our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Amant with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of Baton Rouge or the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center.  If you would like to offer the family condolences, please sign the online  guest book below.
