Jimmy Lee "Jim" Bacon

February 16, 1940 — December 24, 2023

 

Jim “Jimmy” Bacon, 83, of Gonzales, Louisiana , Passed away on December 24, 2023.

Born in 1940 in Dallas, Texas.

Jim was a beloved Husband, Father, Grand-Father and  Great Grand-Father.

Jim is survived by his loving wife, Sally A. Bacon (Baker) and a beautiful, blended family:  John Taylor Bacon, JoAnn Bacon Desselle, James Anthony Bacon, Maya Bacon Edwards, Dedra Bacon Wallace, David Quentin Dauthier, and Joshua Caleb Bacon.  He also leaves behind 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, as well as cousins who will miss him dearly.

Jim was proceeded in death by his mother, Dezine Bacon Thompson and his father, Oliver H Bacon and his sister, Dorothy Johnson; grandson, Jason Bacon; granddaughter, Rilee Nicole Bacon.

A proud Veteran, Jim served in the U.S. Navy; His military service was a testament to his dedication and commitment to his country.

Throughout his career, Jim worked for AFU Local 102, as well as Iron Worker's Local 623, Piper Fitter.

He spent most of his professional life as a cross-country truck driver, traveling the open roads and whose handle was, “Wind Chaser”.  In addition to his career, Jim was also an Ordained Minister, sharing his faith and guiding others along their spiritual journeys.

Jim found solace and strength in his faith and attended, “Assembly of God”, McComb, Ms.

Outside of his work and religious pursuits, Jim had a passion for travel, love of pitbulls, eclectic taste in music, studying the Bible and loving his Lord.  These things brought him joy and fulfillment throughout his life.

A “Celebration of Jim’s Life” will be on January 6, 2024 at 2:00 at his home in Gonzales.
