Jesse Lee Whitaker, Jr., affectionately known as Jack, was born on March 4, 1951, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and grew up in Watson.

Jack was known for his remarkable ability to fix almost anything. Countless people turned to him for advice and help with all kinds of problems, knowing he could often find a solution. His outgoing personality and unique sense of humor made him unforgettable wherever he went. He was fun to be around and always did his best to make others smile with his jokes and quick wit.

Jack loved the outdoors and enjoyed activities such as riding four-wheelers, caring for his lawn and flower gardens, and building outdoor projects. He especially enjoyed working alongside others on various outdoor activities and was always willing to lend a helping hand with someone else’s project.

He also cherished spending quality time with his wife, Lisa. Together, they traveled to dozens of states and created countless treasured memories along the way. At home, they spent many happy hours laughing together while watching their favorite movies with their beloved dog, Milo.

Jack was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Maggio; his stepfather, Emile Maggio; his brother, Kenneth Ray Whitaker; and his son, Jack Randall Whitaker.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa Bonaventure Whitaker; his daughter, Holly Whitaker Gascon; his sister, Connie Maggio Lassere; and his sister-in-law, Danell Brice. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Carson Gascon and Gavin Gascon; his niece and nephew, Hope Achord and Troy Thomas; his wife’s niece and nephew, Aubrey Efferson and Adam Brice; and his loyal canine companion, Milo, his “opossum-killing pup

Jack will be remembered for his generosity, humor, willingness to help others, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed.

A memorial/graveside service will be held at a later date.
