Janis Rae Van Veckhoven

Janis Rae Van Veckhoven began her eternal journey on April 26th, 2023, at the age of 64. Surrounded by her family she passed peacefully after a courageous fight at the hospital. She was a caring mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Janis graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1977. She retired from Johnson Controls after 31 years, and in her retirement, she enjoyed working in her garden and yard, traveling, and quilting and crocheting blankets for every person in her life. She is survived by her dedicated soulmate of 19 years, Jim Robertson; Children, Janna Barker (Carson), Henry “Beaugh” Taylor IV, and Lauren Taylor; Granddaughter, Gabrielle Dietel; Mother, Donna Van Veckhoven; Siblings, Rhonda Daigle (James), Greg Van Veckhoven, Clay Van Veckhoven (Peggy), Janine Carlisle (Brent), Marsha Woodcock (Dale), Alan Van Veckhoven, and Jason Van Veckhoven as well as all of her nieces and nephews. Also survived by Jim’s family: Children, Holly Falcon, Jimmy Robertson Jr. (Brittany) and Tina Hollowell (Clay); Grandchildren, Emily Falcon, Bailey Robertson, Julianne Robertson, Christopher Hollowell and Jacob Hollowell. She is preceded in death by her father, James Van Veckhoven Jr. and sister Sharon McNeely. The family would like to thank Dr. Sanjay Juneja and his team at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, as well as the in-patient oncology team at Baton Rouge General Medical Center whose care and expertise gave us precious extra time with Janis, and eased her, and us, through these difficult months. Visitation will be Saturday, May 6th at 2pm and service begins at 4pm at Christ Community Church, 26574 Juban Rd, in Denham Springs. Janis requested donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
