Janet Marie Alexander

Janet Marie Alexander, of Gramercy, Louisiana, passed away on October 3, 2026, at the age of 73. She was born on July 17, 1953, in Reserve, Louisiana.

Janet will be remembered as a devoted family woman whose greatest joy was being with those she loved. She worked as a hairdresser and spent her life caring for others in both simple and meaningful ways. She enjoyed camping, watching her grandchildren play sports, and spending time with family and friends. Those moments brought her happiness and created many treasured memories for the people around her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alexander, and her daughter, Robin Lynn Alexander.

Janet leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory forward. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa Roussel and her husband Terry, and Jennie Alexander, along with Karsyn and Lexie. She is also survived by her sister Mary Ann Powell and brother-in-law Gene Powell, Sr., and by Tommy, Debra, Tyler, Ethan, Vickie, Kurt, Dallan, and Ava. Her sister Penny Dufrene also survives her, along with Kayla Landry (Lance) and Cameron Phillips.

She is further survived by her brothers Todd Vicknair, Sr. and his wife Lisa, Todd and Jordan, and Justin. She is also survived by Sherry Alexander and Gloria, and she was blessed to have her godchild, Gene Powell Jr., along with Rachel, Garrett, and Casey. Janet’s family circle also includes Norman Alexander and Cookie.

Her grandchildren were a special part of her life, and she is survived by Madisen Lynch, along with Dennis and Beau; Evan Roussel and Sheridan Arnold; Karsyn Alexander; Lexie Alexander; Ryan Roussel and Kassie; Cary Roussel and Leah; Samy Roussel and Ory; and Janey Hebert and Trey. Her love for her grandchildren was clear in the pride she took in cheering them on and sharing in their lives.

A Mass will be held on October 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, 1900 Greenwood Dr, Laplace, Louisiana 70068.

The family extends sincere thanks to all of the hospice nurses who took such great care of Janet. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
