James "Jimmy" Edward Wainwright Sr.

James “Jimmy” Edward Wainwright Sr., 78, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. Jimmy was born on April 10, 1947, in Chickasaw, Alabama, to the late Sitman LeNoir and Mary Ellazine Wainwright. 

Jimmy proudly served his country in the United States Navy, completing two tours in Vietnam. His service reflected the courage, loyalty, and dedication that defined his life. A true outdoorsman at heart, Jimmy loved spending his time fishing, sitting around bonfires, and enjoying the company of family and friends. He was happiest surrounded by the people he loved, sharing stories, laughter, and a good meal. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Charles, Harry, Emerson, Fred, Carrol, and Becky; granddaughter Destiny Hooten; and great-grandson Zayden Lane. 

Jimmy is survived by his siblings Sitman, Tommy, Terry, and Patricia; his children Denise, Joe (and wife Brittany), Jimmy (and wife Amy), and Jamie (and wife Jessica); and his many grandchildren — Howard, Kevin, Ashley, Michael, Brentley, Hunter, Laythan, Emmett, Mercedes, Brianna, Owen, Brandon, Brent, Desirae, Alyssa, Kelsey, Devin, Taylor, Isabella, and Adelynn. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy, as well as his former wife, Carol Herring, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

Jimmy’s love for life, his devotion to his family, and his easygoing spirit will forever be remembered by all who knew him. 

A memorial and funeral service will be held at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Denham Springs, Louisiana, on Friday, November 21st, 2025; visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a service beginning at 11:00 AM. A graveside service will take place thereafter at Louisiana National Military Cemetery in Zachary.
