James “Jim” Nickens

Funeral for Mr. James T. “Jim” Nickens, 94, will be 10 am Thursday at Carpenters Chapel United Methodist Church; visitation will be Wednesday 5 pm until 8 pm and will resume on Thursday at 9am until time of the service. Interment will follow at the Galvez Community Cemetery. He is preceded in death by his spouses Nora Deon LeBlanc Nickens and Elsie Moore Nickens; son Thomas E. Nickens, parents Newman & Lydia Nickens; brothers Hybart, Milbern, Carroll, Wade and Cecil; sisters Verna McGuire and Alice Ayo; also 1 grandson and 1 great granddaughter. Survivors include his daughters Sharon Dean Pittman (George) and Nancy Sue Burns (David); sister Bessie Smith; also survived by 3 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren.
