James R. “Jamie” Housley, also known as “Squirrel”, a lifelong resident of Walker, Louisiana and currently of Holden, Louisiana, died Saturday, July 18, 2026 at the age of 66. He is the beloved husband of Martha “Mot” Dearman Housley for 39 years; loving father of J.R. King, Jeffery D. Housley and Christopher Housley; and faithful son of Marie Truax Aydell and husband, William. He is also survived by his grandchildren, the “apples of his eye,” Carsyn, Colton, and Corbyn Housley; siblings, Janice Wheat and husband Joe, Rusty Housley, Melissa Housley, Greg Aydell, Christy Aydell and Shannon Aydell; and mother-in-law, Lena Dearman.
Jamie is predeceased by his father, Dale Housley and father-in-law, Reese Dearman.
Jamie was a graduate of Walker High School, a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, and was a career welder and currently proprietor of James’ Dirt Work. He loved hunting, fishing, working, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at Magnolia Baptist Church, 21445 LA 442, Holden, Louisiana on Tuesday, July 21, 2026 from 5PM until 9PM and again on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 9AM until 11AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11AM at church. Interment, Housley Family Cemetery, 2014 Terrell Road, Amite, Louisiana, 70422.
