James Mortimer Hoffman III, 75, of Baton Rouge, LA died peacefully on March 17th, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 5th, 1950 in New Orleans, LA to James Mortimer Hoffman II and Dorothy Francis Nelson. Jim grew up in Richardson,Tx and was an elite 3-sport athlete, where he coined the nickname “Jimmy Grits”
He later attended LSU and was a member of PKT fraternity, where he met his lifelong friend Collin ('Da Coach') Andrews, along with numerous brothers whom he still had monthly lunches with. He was a well known youth baseball coach for Unit Design and helped develop many high school and collegiate players.
Jim was a devoted husband ,to his wife Kathy of 52 years, father , grandfather, brother, cousin, coach and friend.
Jim is survived by wife, Kathy Hoffman, son Jimbo Hoffman, daughter Katie leigh Hoffman (John Green); grandchildren, Hayden Kathryn Hoffman, Scarlett Grace Hoffman, Declan Mcauliffe Champion Green; sisters Dottie Miles, Jane Boles, sister-in-law Tara Mcauliffe Brown, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; whom he cared for deeply.
Funeral services will be held at St. Aloysius Church March 26th. Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM, with a mass to follow.
Family asks in lieu of flowers that a mass intention be read in his name.
