Irisbelia "Nana" Lopez Boriel

Irisbelia “Nana” Lopez Boriel, born June 11, 1940, in Vieques, Puerto Rico, was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend whose life was marked by love, warmth, and devotion to family.

Raised in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, Nana carried with her the beauty, strength, and spirit of the islands throughout her life. She began her married life there with her loving husband, Denis Boriel, before eventually making their home in Laplace, Louisiana. From the moment she first visited Louisiana, she fell in love with its people, culture, and sense of community.

Nana made many cherished friendships during her years working at Laplace Self Storage, where her kindness, welcoming nature, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on those who knew her. She had a special way of making people feel seen, loved, and appreciated.

Above all, Nana loved her family tremendously. She is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Denis Boriel; her children, Robert Boriel (Clarissa), Jose Boriel (Crissy), and Janissa Boriel; her grandchildren, Joshua Laviolette (Amber), Selby Boriel-Brisbi (Brad), Amanda Krennerich (Tim), Jake Boriel (Jenna), Jonathan Laviolette, and Briana Boriel; and her great-grandchildren, Harley, Elijah, and Oakleigh Krennerich, and James and Knox Laviolette.

She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever treasure her memory.

Nana was preceded in death by her parents, Dimas and Teodosia Lopez; her brother, Carlos Lopez; and her sister, Maria Cintron.

Her legacy lives on in the family she adored, the friendships she nurtured, and the many lives she touched with her love, laughter, and generous heart. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

A private service at the family tomb in St. Croix will be held at a later date.
