Hollie “Ginger” Virginia Turner, born on July 14, 1942, in Elizabeth, LA  passed away peacefully at her home in Prairieville, LA on July 8, 2023, at the age of 80. Beloved by all who knew her, Ms. Hollie was a true friend to everyone, with an abundant love that extended to each and every person she encountered. Her caring nature was evident in the way she welcomed everyone into her home, treating them as cherished members of her own family. She will be remembered as an incredibly kind provider, always ready to lend a helping hand and offer comfort.

Ginger dedicated herself to serving others as an LPN at East Ascension Hospital in the Emergency Room for over 31 years, positively impacting countless lives. Outside of work, she found solace in her beautiful garden, where she lovingly tended to her flowers and delighted in the presence of the squirrels she would feed. Cooking was another passion of hers, and she took great joy in preparing delicious meals for her family and friends. Ginger had an affinity for swamp pop music and enjoyed listening to the Roland Doucet Radio Show.

On July 25, 1960, Ginger married Kenneth Wade Turner in Orange, Texas, creating a loving partnership that lasted for many years. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Thomas Wade Turner (Amy DeLaney Turner), Regina Kay Lambert (Gary Lambert), Bobbie Warner (Mike Warner), and Betty Jo Turner. She also leaves behind seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Ginger is survived by her sister, Lana Avalon Libengood (Larry Libengood).

Ginger is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Wade Turner, her parents Willard James and Yvonne Harper Mahaffey, as well as her brother, James Rodney Mahaffey. Those who wish to pay their respects may attend the visitation, which will be held on Wednesday, July 12th 2023 at Meadows Chapel United Methodist Church (16172 Hwy 73, Praireville, LA 70769) from 9:00 AM until the service begins at 11:00 AM. Following the service, burial will take place at the Household of Faith Church Cemetery on Airline Hwy in Gonzales, LA.
