Listen to Obituary

Hilton Dean Moland, 63, of Watson, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at his home on August 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Hilton was born on June 14, 1963, in Palm Beach, Florida, where he spent his childhood and early teenage years before moving to Watson, Louisiana. Watson became home, and it was there that he would spend the remainder of his life, building a family and a life filled with the people and things he loved most.

Hilton was married to his beloved wife, Bess Lister Moland, for 27 years. Family was at the center of Hilton's life, and some of his greatest joy came simply from spending time with those he loved. Whether it was an ordinary day at home or a family gathering, being surrounded by his family was where he was happiest.

Hilton enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved working in his garden and tending to his chickens. He also had a deep interest in military history and enjoyed visiting war museums. His appreciation for history was something that brought him genuine enjoyment throughout his life.

Hilton was a hardworking man who took great pride in his work painting houses. He believed in doing a job well and could take satisfaction in stepping back and seeing what he had accomplished with his own hands.

More than anything, Hilton will be remembered for the life he built and the family he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories made with him—the ordinary moments, the stories, the laughter, and the time spent together—will remain with his family for years to come.

Hilton was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Bess Lister Moland, and his mother, Ramona Moland.

He is survived by his father, Hilton Thomas Moland; his daughter, Ellen Lirette, and her wife, Michelle; his son, Frank Moland, his wife, Angel, and their children, Caylee, Maddison, and Bethany; his son, Maurice Moland, his girlfriend, Ashley Lemoine, and his children, Reese and Jadelynn; and his son, Ross Moland.

Hilton's final moments were spent where he belonged—at home and surrounded by family. His life may have come to an end, but the love he gave, the family he helped build, and the memories he leaves behind will continue to live on in all those who knew and loved him.

A service will be held at Live Oak Baptist Church 35603 Coxe Ave, Denham Springs, LA 70706 on Friday August 28th, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
