Hayward Guidry, 85, a native of Crowley and resident of Maurepas, passed away on November 13, 2025 at his home surrounded by love.

Hayward was born on July 30, 1940, where he was raised on a rice farm in Crowley. He graduated from Crowley High School in 1958, and went on to marry Macklyn "Mackie" Gilbert on January 28, 1961, in New Iberia. Together, they had three children and were married for 55 years until her passing.

Hayward joined the U.S. Army in 1963 and served until 1969. He went on to build a successful career as a Sheet Metal worker with Local Union 21/214, where he retired from in 2000. Hayward loved to cook, play cards, watch baseball, and spend time with his friends and family.

Hayward is survived by his children, Leah Guidry Futrell (Joey) and Lance Guidry, and his self proclaimed children and caregivers, Roy and Celeste Winkle. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jolee Guidry, Jacob Guidry, Jillian Guidry, and Megan Guidry, and his self proclaimed grandchildren, Belle Winkle, Roy Winkle Jr., and Noah Parrish. He is also survived by his brother, Kenneth Guidry.

He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Macklyn Gilbert Guidry; baby daughter, Trisha Leah Guidry; parents, Geneus and Leah Guidry; sisters, Lula Mae Guidry Cormier and Lerline Guidry Sonnier, and his beloved dog, Big Boy.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Reserve for providing the greatest care to Hayward in his final months. The family would also like to thank the care team of Modern Hospice, especially Ms. Ashley Tucker, for the compassionate care they provided in fulfilling Hayward's wishes to be in the comfort of his home during his final days.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
