Gordon Louis Taylor, Jr.
Born on March 21, 1928, in Baton Rouge, LA. Gordon was a devout Catholic and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church and a retiree of Ethyl Corporation. Gordon was a World War II Army veteran serving our country while stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Edwina Lee (Facundus) Taylor, four children and their spouses – Terry Cooper (Tom), Janice Jones (Kenny), Lisa Kerst (Paul) and David Taylor (Lynette), seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother, Howard Taylor and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Bernadette (Alleman) Taylor.
Gordon was an avid fan of Saints football as well as collegiate football and baseball. He was also a master at crossword and jigsaw puzzles, was a vacation, camping, and woodworking enthusiast, and always enjoyed a good meal or snack.
Services will be as follows on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA: Visitation from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. followed by Mass from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A private burial service for his family will be conducted following the Mass.
In lieu of flowers please consider having Masses said for the repose of his soul and the consolation of the family or a memorial gift that will be used to honor his life and memory through Missionaries of Charity.
