Gladys Ann Villar Babin

October 2, 1934 — December 26, 2023

Gonzales

“I have fought the good and honorable fight I have finished the race; I have kept the faith…and not only to me, but also those who longed for this appearing.” II Timothy 4:7-8.

Gladys “Peanie” Babin passed away on Tuesday December 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of eighty-nine. Gladys lived her life devoted to her family. She raised her seven kids, being an excellent cook and seamstress and catered to our dad his entire life. Alzheimer's is a terrible disease, but it allowed all her children the blessing of being able to take care of her for over seven years at her home. This speaks volumes of the type of parents Gladys and G.P. were. They instilled a great work ethic and loving helpful hearts in all their children. Our mom deserved the best care and was genuinely loved.

She is survived by her four daughters and one son: Lisa & Lance Troxclair, Janet & David DeLaneuville, Rick & Linda Babin, Sharon & Dean Bourque, and Sue & Shelby Wheat. She is also survived by her late daughter Nancy’s husband John Rowell. She was extremely blessed to be survived by seventeen grandchildren: Lauren, Lindsey, Dane, Justin, Aidan, Randall, Dallas, Chris, Jamie, Brad, Kim, Brady, Jody, Erica, Kelly, Corey, and Reggie along with their fifteen spouses. She was also blessed with thirty-

six great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. Her current family includes eighty-two living members.

Gladys was proceeded in death by her husband G.P. Babin, Jr. and her two loving daughters, Nancy Babin Rowell, and Vicki Babin Garcich, along with her parents and three siblings.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to our mom’s three caretakers: Lisa Carter Smith, Michele Anderson and Jackie Berthelot who always took excellent care of our mom. Also, thanks to Pinnacle Hospice Care including Michelle and Tara.
