Ginger Gayle Diez

Ginger Gayle Diez (42) led a life well lived, surrounded by friends, family, and fantastic meals. She fought a hard battle against stage 4 pancreatic cancer, passing on May 29, 2023 surrounded by her doting husband Mark Diez, their two children, Ryland and Zaylee, her parents Gayle (Crochet) and Floyd Sanchez Jr., and her sisters, Tonya Sanchez, Sandy (Brian) Chambers, Christel (Dale Matthew) Sanchez, and Brandy (Gene) Duncan. GG was a bright spot for many, often infusing situations with her wit and sarcasm, to the delight of her in-laws Wynn Nell (Austin) and Mark Diez Sr., sister-in-laws Marla (Mike) Toups and Becky (Trampas) Amedee. Ginger’s absence will be felt by her many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends. GG will be fondly remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews: Kason (Emily) Diez, Logan Toups, Landon Toups, Alyssa (Joshua) Punkay, Austin Amedee, Ashlie LeBlanc, Allison (William) McClure, Jeffrey (Jenna) LeBlanc, Anna (Garrett) LeBlanc, Danielle Chambers, Matthew Chambers, Dillon (Beth) Smith, Abigayle Duncan, Taylor Duncan, Isabella Duncan, Lilian Duncan. Ginger’s previously departed loved ones included her grandparents Sidney and Agatha Crochet, Inez and Floyd Sanchez Sr., her parrain Brett Cambre, and her aunt Betty Sanchez. Ginger was always ready for a good time, and enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. GG adored sharing her home with niece Danielle and her son, Willie Jo, and did her best to “spoil him rotten” in true GG fashion. She enjoyed old country music and taking long drives. For many she was hard to read; often silly and carefree on the outside, but thoughtful, generous, and sincere to her core. Ginger laughed often, and cared deeply for her children. She thoroughly enjoyed the Christmas season, decorating and spreading cheer and merriment wherever she went. Her absence will be felt by many. Special thanks to the staff at the Hospice of Baton Rouge, Dr. Hanson and his staff, and the palliative care staff at Mary Bird Perkins for their support to Ginger and her family in her last months. Please join her friends and family in remembering Ginger. Share a story of your times together in the guest book and remember the joy she brought to all of our lives. Visitation will be at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on June 9th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:O0 a.m. Catholic Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Ginger’s name to Perry’s Posse (Venmo: @Chance-Roccaforte) or Cancer Services (Baton Rouge).
