Gerald Wood

Gerald Wood, a lifelong resident of Welcome, Louisiana, passed away on March 6, 2023 at the age of 82 years. He was born December 11, 1940. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara Waguespack Wood; daughters, Rebecca Theriot (Gregg), Tammy Matirne (Keith), Geralyn Stephens, and Carmen Denham. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his absolute joy.  Grandchildren are Gregory Theriot (Marcy), Jesse Theriot, Jeanne Theriot, Mason Matirne (Lindsey), Marie Matirne, Jacob Matirne, Allison Stephens, Noelle Stephens, Olivia Stephens, Kyle Stephens, Rachel Stephens, Celia Denham and Malorie Denham.  Great grandchildren are Walker Theriot and Grant Matirne.  He is survived by one sister, Mary Lee Wood.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Cecile Wood; brothers, John Wood and Michael Wood; and a sister, Sydney Womack Wood. Visitation and funeral will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 818 W. 10th Street, Donaldsonville, LA 70346, on Friday March 10, 2023; visitation will begin at 8:30am followed by funeral at 11:00am. Reception to follow at St. Francis of Assisi Church Hall.
