Gerald “Wayne” Sheets

Gerald “Wayne” Sheets, a resident of Gonzales, LA, passed away on May 9th, 2023 at the age of 68. He is survived by his children, Jason (Heather) Sheets, Hope Wireman, Anna Phelps & AJ Phelps; grandchildren, Devon, Trevor, Ethan, & Vance Wireman, Brynna Phelps, & Adriene Phelps; siblings, Barbara Michel, Ramona (Blake) Debate, Gladys (Cecil “Bo”) McManus, Charlotte (Dale) Hidalgo, and Tommy (Donna) Sheets; sister in-law, Faye Sheets, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents; his parents, Wilbert “Cootie” Joseph Sheets & Brunhilde “Tatum” Loupe Sheets; siblings, Eugene Sheets, Addie Sheets, and Patricia Dempster; in-laws, Joseph “Buddy” Dempster, and Jerry Michel. The pallbearers will be Devon, Trevor, Ethan, & Vance Wireman, Darren Hidalgo (godson), Jordan Sheets, Ty “Killa” Dempster, and Mark Michel and honorary pallbearers Tyke McManus and Brody Duplessis. Wayne loved his family, friends, and the outdoors. In his spare time, he could always be found cooking, relaxing or tinkering around with his ride or die “Wrinkles”, his dog, who was always by his side. He was a giver and never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.



A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held on Friday, May 12th, 2023, at The Church International in St. Amant with visitation from 9am until service time at 11am. Arrangements entrusted with Church Funeral Services of St. Amant, LA.
